On 8 November Dubai’s residents and visitors came together in a spectacular display of community, solidarity and enthusiasm for fitness as, for the very first time, part of the Sheikh Zayed Road transformed into a running track for Dubai Fitness Challenge 2019. 70,000 residents and visitors of all ages and abilities made history by participating in the inaugural Dubai Run 30×30 on Sheikh Zayed Road.
Spearheaded by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, the event showcased two courses to ensure highest inclusivity of the event – a 5km and 10km route – welcoming youth, old, families and People of Determination from all nationalities to participate in this free one-of-a-kind run for the city. Starting from Dubai World Trade Centre, both routes started along Sheikh Zayed Road before encircling some of Dubai’s most recognised icons including Burj Khalifa, Dubai Opera, The Dubai Mall and Emirates Towers.
Commenting on the event, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council said: “Today marks a milestone in our mission to make Dubai the most active city in the world – together as one society. Congratulations to all those who accepted the challenge. I am confident that you will encourage even more to join over the coming days and make DFC 2019 our most successful edition yet.”
