The Dubai Fitness Challenge came to a thrilling close with the grand finale Weekend Carnival at Dubai Festival City on 17-18 November. After 30 days of challenges, events, workouts and community spirit, the city came together one last time to celebrate a month of fitness.
The festivities kicked off at 1pm on Friday, 17 November, as people took to the shores of Festival Bay for the action-packed Dragon Boat races. The day continued with exciting free fitness activities and workouts across Festival City, providing plenty of opportunities for Dubai’s residents to achieve their 30×30. From Zumba Fusion with Gold’s Gym to Les Mills’ Body Combat classes, the crowd was having fun while getting their heart rates up!
A champion workout
World heavyweight-boxing champion Anthony Joshua was the highlight on Saturday, 18 November, with a knockout fitness routine. The fun kicked off from 1pm and the afternoon was packed with events from ballroom salsa dancing sessions to Fitness First’s Zumba classes. Both days of the carnival ended with spectacular firework displays lighting up the skies above Dubai Festival City.
All weekend an array of exciting mainstage entertainment kept participants going. Fabulous football freestylers astounded the crowds, and children were entertained by Festival City’s resident water show – Imagine: A Child’s Dream. On Friday evening, the crowd achieved the Guinness World Records title for the most people doing jump squats at the same time.
